Team Northeast

Northeast Mountain Guiding loves everything actively outdoors. Many of our clients are runners, looking to branch out and enjoy nature in a new way. Since we have received many questions about trail running, group runs, and races in the area, we came up with the idea of starting a running club/race team.

The club provides access to races in the area, other runners to train with, a chance to do some charity work, and all the benefits of running on/with a team, including an annual party.

GROUP RUNS:
We are organizing team runs, long and short, to get to know other runners in the area. They provide the chance to meet other runners who share your goals and your pace. These runs will be anywhere from 3-22 miles and will be for all paces. For our shorter runs (3-8 miles), we will have beginner (12-10 min/mi), intermediate (10-8 min/mi), and speed runs (8 min/mi and under).

TRAINING RUNS:
Team Northeast is kicking off it's racing with a half marathon in October, so we will be incorporating a group LSR (long slow run) every weekend (of course, "slow" is always subjective). We will also be organizing LSRs the same day for those training for a fall marathon. These provide the opportunity to meet people with similar goals and to provide support through your training. As we all know LSRs can be tedious, and participating in the group LSR training runs helps to provide some companionship through the miles.

RACING ON A TEAM:
Although running is often looked at as a solo sport, there is a sense of camaraderie that is gained through finishing the same distance with a group of people, especially during a race.  Team Northeast competes in races together, often raising money for charity.  Some of the races that Team NE run in include, but are not limited to:

The Hashathon: Cheesequake Park, NJ

The Fairfield Half Marathon: Fairfield, CT

The Jersey Shore Marathon Relay: Asbury Park, NJ

The Belmar Five: Belmar, NJ

The Jersey Shore Half Marathon: Sandy Hook, NJ

The Manasquan Turkey Trot: Manasquan, NJ

*The team is always open to suggestions from our members for new races.

FRIENDLY COMPETITION:
We always welcome a little friendly competition!! For those who love the competitive edge that running on a team provides, starting in September, we will be keeping "score" and awarding prizes for fastest, most team races, most improved PR, and other prizes. Stay tuned for updates on our "team tallies".

BEGINNER SUPPORT:
We are proud to support our beginning runners!! As we all know, before the "bug" bites and you become completely enthralled with outdoor activity, it is very tough to break into a routine. We are there to help you catch the "bug" by providing a fun and non-discriminant atmosphere, shorter runs, and some sound advice. Be forewarned that we will not do the work for you, nor are we trainers; however, we will be there to support your efforts and will be yelling your name as you cross the finish line of your first race!!

CHARITY:
Team Northeast will be working at raising money for numerous charities throughout the year. Participating in races is a perfect opportunity to raise awareness and funding for those who need it so desperately. We already raised money individually for the CT Burns Care Foundation, the Arthur C Luf Children's Burn Camp, and The Access Fund. We will continue to do work for them and other causes which we feel strongly about and appreciate your continued support and help!
