Summer Mountaineering

All of our summer mountaineering courses take place in Upstate New York, Northwest New Jersey and Northwest Connecticut. The following trips are available May thru October.

Livingston lake Mount Colden


Mt.Colden- 4,714 ft/1437 m

The eleventh in height in the Adirondacks, this peak is rarely visited. Mt.Colden offers spectacular Class 3 climbing and amazing views of the Adirondacks!

 

Course length: 2 days

Location: Adirondack State Park, NY

Prerequisites: Intro to Backpacking, Intro to Rock Climbing or basic rock climbing experience

Ratio: 5:1

Moderately Strenuous to Strenuous

Cost: $250 per person

 

Course description: Depends on which route we're taking up the mountain. Normal route is the Trap Dyke route, starting at Avalanche Lake.

Mt.Frissell- 2,454 ft/748 m

Course length: 1 day

Location: Taconic State Park in Salisbury, CT

Prerequisites: none, fitness level requirement

Ratio: 5:1

Moderately Strenuous

Total miles: 2.5 miles

Elevation gain: 1,000 ft

 

Course description: We meet at the Appalachian Mountain Club parking lot and begin our hike up the Mt.Frissell trail. Enjoying scenic views of New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts we'll enjoy this beautiful hike up a magnificent peak. After hiking over the summit, which is actually in Massachusetts, you'll be standing in 3 states at the same time NY, CT and MA.
