PCGI Certified Multi-Pitch Guide, PCGI Mentor & Assessor. Alan is one of the original creators of the American climbing guide training and certification program still in use today.

He is also a Technical Committee member for the Professional Climbing Guides Institute (PCGI). He currently lives in Nederland, Colorado.
