Ice Climbing

The Northeastern United States has some of the most amazing ice climbing around and great opportunities for beginners!  You'll enjoy a day of climbing some great frozen waterfalls that come back year after year. We also offer multi-pitch ice climbing courses. If you're looking for an extreme adventure on the ice then YOU FOUND IT!

Intro to Ice Climbing

 

Course length: 1 day

Location: Adirondack State Park, NY; Smuggler's Notch, VT; Delaware Water Gap NRA, PA and NJ; Catskills, NY

Prerequisite: none

Ratio: 3:1

Cost: $135-$225 USD per person, cost depends on location

*All technical gear is included

*2 day courses are available

 

Course description: The day starts on the ground discussing safety, basic ice climbing gear, movement on the ice, axe and crampon techniques, balance and body positioning. The 2nd part of the day you'll be climbing on waterfall ice of various heights putting together what you learned. Then we move on to belaying, rappelling, climbing knots and hitches and much more!

Intermediate Ice Climbing

 This course is for experienced rock climbers or people who have climbed on ice before.

 

Course length: 2 days

Location: Adirondack State Park, NY; Smuggler's Notch, VT; Delaware Water Gap NRA, PA and NJ;

Prerequisite: prior rock or ice climbing experience

Ratio: 3:1

Cost: $165-$285 USD per person, cost depends on location

*All technical gear is included

 

Day 1: We start by going over more advanced techniques while moving on ice, anchor types, ice climbing anchor placement and how they work, physics, belaying, multi-pitch techniques, anchor rigging, ice conditions and much more!

 

Day 2: You'll put everything you learned into play on the ice while climbing in a single-pitch and multi-pitch (mock) environment.
